Usage Instructions
All surfaces should be dry and free from contamination, such as oil, grease, loose particles, decayed matter, moss algal growth, laitance, and all traces of mold release oils and curing compounds. This is best achieved by lightly grit-blasting the surface. Where moss, algae, or similar growths have occurred, treatment with a proprietary biocide should be carried out after the grit-blasting process. Remove spalled and deeply disintegrated concrete to sound concrete and repaired with a Saveto repair system. Use Vetorep ER350 to level minor irregularities and fill pinhole.
Priming is not normally required, provided the substrate is sound, prepared, and good quality nonporous concrete. However, if the concrete surface is porous, or the w/c ratio is >0.5, it is recommended to use Vetoprime EP491 or EP490.
Vetoprime EP491 or EP490 should be mixed in the proportions supplied. Add the entire contents of the hardener container to the base container. When thoroughly mixed, preferably using a slow-speed mixer, apply the primer in a thin, continuous film using rollers or stiff brushes. Work the primer well into the concrete’s surface, taking care to avoid ponding or over application. Leave the primer to achieve a tack-free condition before applying the topcoat.
Add component B to component A container, use a slow-speed mixer to mix the base and hardener for 3 minutes. Mix these components in the quantities supplied, make sure that all containers are scraped clean. Do not add solvent thinners at any time.
Lay the first coat of Vetoproof EC720 using a short-haired lamb wool roller or airless spray equipment to achieve a continuous coating. Ensure removing loose hairs on the roller before use. Apply a minimum film thickness of 200 microns per coat. Perpendicularly apply the second coat to the first coat ensuring a minimum dry film thickness of 200 microns. It is recommended to use a different color for each coat to ensure complete coverage.
Broadcast graded sand/quartz on the first coat while still wet; allow to dry completely. After overnight drying, brush away the excess sand/quartz, and then apply the second coat.
Clean tools and equipment with Vetonit Solvent XX400 immediately after use.
- As with all epoxies, Vetoproof EC720 will yellow when exposed to UV.
- Before filling the tank with water, Vetoproof EC720 must be fully cured for 7days at 20°C.
- For steel substrate it is recommended to use Vetoprime EP491.
